Version 138 - view current page

This is a global, community-developed list of:
1. foresight professionals (sometimes also called professional futurists) who look to and analyze the long-term (10+ year) future for paying clients in any of 90+ different primary, secondary, and other foresight specialties.
2. foresight researchers, who publish on long-term foresight in academic and trade journals.
3. foresight educators, who teach (secondary (HS), tertiary (university) or non-degree) long-term foresight curricula. A project of the ASF nonprofit.

Foresight Professionals, Researchers, and Educators - A Global List

Global Village GF

We would guess that there are perhaps 100,000 living individuals that have given talks or done serious work in various areas of long-term (10+ year) scientific, technological, business, or social foresight. Perhaps 20,000 of these have published peer-reviewed foresight research in academic or trade journals, and perhaps 5,000 have given university or other courses significantly focused on long-term foresight. How soon can we get this starter list of professionals, researchers, and educators above 1,000 (1%)? How soon can we get it above 10,000 (10%)?

Do you know any foresight professionals, researchers, or educators that should be listed here? Please add them, in the following two-line format:
First Line: Name with link to an online bio, Title (if any), Institution name (if any), Location(s), and Email (if public, in a mailto: format).
Second Line: Brief description (one line maximum!) of their foresight specialties/interests, as far as you know them.

Format: Alphabetical order by last name, with name in bold, and your entry in 10 point Arial type, in the appropriate location.

This list is a stub. It is ready for your additions. Thank you!

Foresight Education and Research Network (FERN)
Are you a foresight educator, education researcher, or student? Would you like to join a network specifically for advancing the state of foresight/futures education? Please our FERN Group on Shaping Tomorrow's Foresight Network. We look forward to working with you to advance our field!

World Future Society has established a Futures Learning Section "committed to all forms of futures learning." On the academic side, Peter Bishop (Director, U Houston MS in Futures Studies) has started a Futures Learning listserve. Also, David Stein of the Wash, DC WFS publishes FutureTakes, a great newsletter that has 2-3 dedicated pages covering futures educators globally. WFS also publishes Future Times and Learning Tomorrow, occasional newsletters for those interested in "Futures Education and the Future of Education."

World Futures Studies Federation, A professional society of futures researchers, academics, and consultants. Founded in 1967 they have a "mission to promote futures education and research." WFSF has been less active in promoting academic FS than one might expect given their long, and in other ways distinguished, tenure in the field. As a result, a number of futures educators felt the need to develop other complementary and more narrowly focused networks specifically for promoting futures education, curricula, and methodology.
